Mexican food, generally appreciates in every possible part of the globe. It's a gem, and for some, it's common ground. Mexican food is genuinely unique in the world, like a timeless stamp of this country's past, due to the combination of flavours, textures, and ingredient experimentation.

The following are some of the things that you should know about. It's worth noting that the art of our cuisine is in the preparation, in the ingenuity that goes into creating so many unique culinary creations with just a few inexpensive, readily available, and quick-to-cook ingredients.
It is (almost) impossible to assemble a single list of the best cuisine in Mexico because there are so many delicious choices. Each region has its own distinct cuisine, which residents say is the best in the country.
Popular Mexican Dishes to Try
The list could not begin in any other manner. If you were to ask on the streets of Mexico what is the favorite food of the locals, the most repeated response would probably be "tacos".
However, you may be unaware that each individual providing that answer may be referring to something entirely different.
Tacos come in a variety of hues and flavors, with various meats and tortilla preparations: tacos with salsa roja (red sauce), tacos with salsa verde (green sauce), tacos with guacamole or pico de gallo, tacos with pineapple or caramelised onion. Traditional tacos prepare with corn tortillas, but flour tortillas are also available.
Mexico Tacos of Various Types
Insanely enough, there's a TON of various types of tacos. We could name them all here but if you are going to eat in Mexican Restaurant, here are a few MUST-TRYs. If you are in Hong Kong and looking for authentic Mexican Food then you must come to La Vista.
This Lebanese-style spit-grilled pork that commonly serves with corn tortillas and pineapple. If preferred, you can also add Parmesan. You then garnish it with fresh onions, coriander, and lime
Tacos de Barbacoa
Barbacoa is a variety of taco that can be made from beef, lamb, or goat. The flesh often falls off the bone because it cooks slow with dried chillis and a slew of other delectable Mexican spices.
Carnitas Taco
Carnitas are essentially the Mexican equivalent of pulled pork. It is juicy (when done correctly) and is braised and simmered down until it shredds.
Pescado Sandwiches (Fish Taco)
When you order a fish taco in Mexico, you can anticipate grilled or fried fish fillets topped with pico de gallo, sourcream, or lime crema. Some people add pickled scallions to give it a tangy flavour! This taco commonly encounters along Mexico's seaside destinations.
Birria is a typical stew from the Mexican state of Jalisco (usually made with goat). The beef then shredds and served in tacos with a Savoury sauce. Birria is one of my favorite tacos.
Tacos con Chorizo
Chorizo tacos, made from minced pork, are another popular Mexican dish. It has a smokey taste that other taco meats do not have.
Enchiladas
Enchiladas are, in truth, my Favorite Mexican dish. Enchiladas are made from a rolled maize tortilla filled with shredded chicken or other stew. The fried maize tortillas are dipped in red or green salsa (the ones with salsa verde are called enchiladas "suizas"), and topped with fresh cheese and sour cream. This preparation varies according to the restaurant and region, but it is a very accessible dish that can be located and enjoyed in any section of the country. It is a hearty heavy meal that typically serves with refried beans. The refried beans give the enchiladas a velvety dense texture that I adore.
Gorditas (Mexican Sandwiches)
Gorditas are a popular Mexican street dish, especially in the northeast. They prepare with a small round tortilla "pouch" that you can fill with a range of fillings such as potato, black beans, chicharrón, chorizo, or other ingredients. It is possible to make it with either maize or flour tortillas. Gorditas you can serve as a dessert in a very different, but equally delectable, preparation known as gorditas de nata, this you can find at state fairs, tianguis, and markets.
Huaraches / Sopes
Sopes and huaraches share the same place on this list because both dishes consist of a thick bed of maize, similar to combining several corn tortillas, topped with fresh cheese and meat and various toppings. The main difference between the two is merely the size and shape: sopes are round and smaller, and huaraches are long and oval.
Quesadillas (Fried Quesadilla)
The word quesadilla derives from the words "queso" and "illa," which both indicate cheese. With these two sole ingredients, there is nothing easier than this popular dish. It takes only two minutes to make and is absolutely delicious. Most Mexicans in the nation will tell you that all you need is cheese and tortillas.
Chiles de Nogada
These are big chiles from which most or all of the seeds are removed before fill with ground beef and fruit and covered with a walnut-based cream sauce and pomegranate seeds. They occasionally add Spanish rice to the filling.
Its hues are similar to those of the Mexican flag. Does it get any more Hispanic than that? That's why this dish is most popular on special occasions, such as Independence Day or Christmas.
The pomegranate seeds lend a subtle sweetness to the dish and cut through the richness of the walnut-based cream sauce.
It is undoubtedly one of the most time-consuming and meticulous recipes in Mexican cuisine to make, but the end result is well worth it. These chili peppers are extremely delicious.
Enfrijoladas
That's all there is to it: a warm tortilla folded in half and dunked in refried beans. It's inexpensive, simple to prepare, and delicious. You can add cheese, sour cream, and other ingredients, but in any case, it is a very popular and succulent meal in Mexican homes - it may be simple to prepare because it only takes a few minutes, but the secret is in the quality of the beans and their proper cooking.
Chilaquiles
Chilaquiles are one of Mexico's most cherished traditional foods, second only to tacos. As easy as it sounds, deep-fried corn tortilla chips topped with red or green sauce, cheese, onion, and sour cream are the quintessential breakfast in Mexican households.
It is a traditional Mexican dish that is best consumed at any roadside stand and is usually served with fried eggs and beans. Consider it topped nachos drenched in a delectable sauce.
Chilaquiles are undeniably unifying... but also controversial. One of the most heated debates in the nation is whether green or red salsa is superior. While the choice between green and red salsa is entirely subjective, both are equally delicious and filling.
More tourist-friendly chilaquiles will have a tonne of topping choices from chorizo, beef, cheese, jalapenos and more. It is one of my favourite Hispanic dishes. The fried maize tortillas take on the taste of the sauce and its one saucy mess.
This is what is called an “antojito mexicano” – which translates as a “Mexican snack”. It is not one of the main dishes but it is certainly one of the most popular foods throughout the country.
Esquites are corn in a cup, made with lime juice, salt, chilli sauce, chilli powder, sour cream or mayonnaise with cheese and, sometimes, eloteros get inventive and even add potato chips.
Elote asado can be prepared the same way, but in this case, the corn has been put on a grill until it turns black. Corn is synonymous with love, and it serves as the basis of Mexican cuisine. As a result, it is also relished in its most raw and natural form.
Elotes can be found in any street food stand and is an institution in our cuisine.
Tamales
Tamales are among the most popular dishes in Mexican cuisine. Tamales are tiny corn dough blocks stuffed with a range of ingredients. It is typically wrapped in the corn husk and cooked in the form of a wrapped parcel. In Mexico, the most prevalent are classified as red tamales, green tamales, and sweet tamales. My personal favorites are the sweet corn tamales, which I would suggest to dessert lovers. If you want to take the tamale to another level you can try a guajolota, which is a variety of bread filled called "bolillo" with a tamale inside it. Yes, that is traditional Mexican food elevated to new heights.
11 . Marquesitas
Marquesitas, a delectable dessert that make from rolled crepe-like dough. It contains a cheese known as "queso bola" on the inside and is accompanied by toppings that can differ but frequently include jam, cajeta, or condensed milk. When the founders of this site were living in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, a marquesita with nutella and cheese was a weekly staple.
Although it may sound strange, it is extremely delicious. Consider marquesitas roll-ups crepes with a delicate yet crunchy texture. Marquesitas are a famous Mexican snack that people enjoy while out and about.
12. Pozole
Without a doubt, pozole is one of the most well-known main dishes in Mexican food. It makes up of a broth with different ingredients such as meat, radish, chickpeas, lettuce, onion, and cabbage. Ingredients and preparation may vary by region, as they do in many other instances. This is why Hispanic food is so popular. Pozole, on the other hand, is a delicious dish in all of its forms that you can find in any corner of the country and eaten at any time of day or year. Keep in mind that it tastes finest when it's hot! Due to its superb flavour and popularity among hungry customers, the consomé, even serves as a separate drink in many restaurants. If you're not in the mood for birria, you might as well consume the juicy consomé that comes with it.
12. Chapulines (Fried Insects) (Fried Insects)
Chapulines are, in fact, animals! While insects frequently people consume in Mexico (though chicatanas are), chapulines have made their way into traditional Mexican dishes such as certain types of quesadillas and some variations of guacamole.
Chapulines have a crunchy texture and a salty taste. They may not appear to be it, and some may be hesitant to sample them, but they are a real treat! If you visit a mezcal bar (mezcaleria), do not surprised yourself if they offer you crunchy Chapulines to accompany your drink.
13. Chicharrón
One of the most adaptable foods is chicharrón. It can be a stew, a variety of meat found in tacos and gorditas, or a chip-like presentation accompanied by spicy sauce, chilli powder, salt, and lime juice.
It frequently serves with various sauces, and the preparation varies greatly based on the type of dish desired. The flavor and texture of each type of chicharrón are entirely distinct.
14. Tostadas
It is a fried, round base of maize or nopal with other ingredients on. Moreover, these can range from sour cream or black beans to meat or ham, cabbage, onion, or cheese, to name a few.
Tostadas are a simple approach to Mexican cuisine, but the best part about them is their endless preparation options. Tostadas frequently topp with seafood in the Yucatan area, providing a crunchy base for different seafood concoctions.
15. Mexican Ceviche
The seafood of the Mexican coast goes hand in hand with its renowned beaches, mostly people recognise these from all over the world. They come in use to make some outstanding dishes, including Mexican ceviche.
It's typically served with tostadas or tortillas. Ceviche typically composes of fish or shrimp marinated in lime juice (or Mexican lemon juice). Moreover, this is cut into small pieces and combined with onion, cilantro, chiles, and tomato.
It is a refreshing and inexpensive meal that is popular among those who enjoy Mexican food and beaches.
16. Aguachile
Although the degree of spiciness varies, this dish is only for the brave who appreciate hot and spicy food. Moreover, aguachile is a popular dish on Mexico's Pacific shore, and it typically contains shrimp, a lot of lime juice, chiles, onion, cucumber, and avocado.
The preparation of ceviches and aguachile is very similar because they use the same components. Ceviches are typically marinated for 30 minutes or more, whereas Aguachiles are immersed in a chile-lime water before being served.
